Belly of the Bison: A Yukon Gem! Review by a Puertorrican Foodie If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience in Whitehorse, look no further than Belly of the Bison! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and exceptional service. Our server, Lovie Padilla, truly deserves 5 stars on his own. His recommendations were spot-on, perfectly capturing the essence of the restaurant's menu. We started with the French Onion Soup and the Crispy Beet & Burrata Salad, both recommended by Lovie. The soup was rich and flavorful, with perfectly caramelized onions and a satisfyingly cheesy top. The salad was a delightful explosion of textures and tastes - the crispy beets perfectly balanced the creamy burrata and the tangy dressing. For our entrees, we followed Lovie's guidance and tried the Alaskan Sockeye Salmon and the Bison Bolognese. The salmon was cooked to perfection, flaky and moist, and the accompanying sides were a delicious complement. The Bison Bolognese was a revelation - hearty, flavorful, and unlike any bolognese I've ever had. To top off the evening, we shared a Chia Creme Brulee. This unique dessert was a delightful surprise, with a perfectly caramelized sugar crust and a smooth, creamy chia pudding base. Overall, Belly of the Bison exceeded our expectations on every level. The food was exceptional, the service impeccable, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. A special thanks again to Lovie for his outstanding recommendations and service. We will definitely be back the next time we're in Whitehorse!

I wanted to try elk and bison meat during my recent first-time Yukon trip, so I came here for dinner. It was a great choice! The ambiance was just right - not too loud, and not too dark. We ordered the elk roulade and bison bolognese - they were beautifully presented, generously portioned and above all tasted great! The pink belly cocktail was also, as one reviewer pointed out, very refreshing, and in a beautiful glass. The server that night (Feb 21) was also very sweet and energetic. There was an issue with the restaurant's credit card machine and she kept apologizing for the inconvenience it caused us, even though it was not her own fault. Eventually, after having called her manager, she told us we could just leave and come pay another day only if convenient. When we did find a chance to come back and pay for our meal (Feb 23), the same server was on duty, and she again apologized profusely! Note to the manager/owner, if you see this review, PLEASE deliver her (I forgot her name) kudos! She exemplifies service. Would love to come back and try some other dishes!

Heard great things about Belly of the Bison, so we chose it for our anniversary dinner! The Beef Carpaccio was a real standout – truly superb. The main courses didn't quite hit the same high note for us, as the braised bison was a bit dry. However, we still had a good overall experience.

We enjoyed our 12 oz ribeye steak so much that we stopped in on our return trip and had it again!!! The service was excellent. But that steak was one of the best I have ever had.

My first time here. Fine dining in the Yukon! Wow, it’s expensive, but they actually put on a very good show. The flavours and combinations are exciting and very enjoyable. For a night out with the family when you’re going to spend a few hundred dollars come to this place.

Tier-1 service with an impeccable and fantastic wine selection. They leverage meat availability with local preferences and traditional cooking methods. The serving staff provide honest suggestions and genuine recommendations as well as being polite, appealing and attentive. Hands down, the best place to go within the whole city. It's grass-roots ingredients match their customer service, only out matched by flavour profile. Bonus points if you get Larissa as your server; phenomenal service in every capacity.

This was surprisingly good option if you are looking for nice dinner venue. The bone marrow was divine. Steak was cooked perfectly. The bison bolognese was a treat. The pasta is a decent size, my wife barely made a dent so we took it home and a nice leftover lunch option.
